Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is offering new features to improve the stability, efficiency, and simplicity of large-scale Kubernetes systems while lowering costs. The upgrades are intended to simplify operations and minimise the administrative strain on IT, eventually boosting the reliability and efficiency of enterprise-grade Kubernetes and generating cost savings of up to 50% when compared to competing cloud providers.
Virtual Nodes, which enable a serverless Kubernetes experience and increase resource utilisation by giving pod-level flexibility with usage-based charging, are among the new features introduced by Oracle Container Engine for Kubernetes (OKE). lifespan Management for Add-Ons allows organisations to install and configure auxiliary operating software or related applications, with the service managing the software's whole lifespan. By offering pod-level identity, Workload Identity improves security and reduces administration overhead.
